Tehran to host Japan short film night

Japanese Embassy in Tehran is to hold a night for screening some Japanese short films.

Japanese Embassy in Tehran has been scheduled to hold a night for screening some Japanese short films.

To be held on July 13, ‘Japan Short Film Night’ is put in order by the Japanese Embassy in collaboration with the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS).

The interested public may enjoy the program that includes screening of five Japanese short films followed by a 15-minute discussion session.

Winter’s Butterfly (2016) directed by Shoji Toyama is a 19-minute fiction about Sachi who grew up deep in the mountains and lives alone in a big city away from her parents’ home. One morning she gets a call from her grandmother and the story unfolds.

‘Home’ (2015) directed by Yosep Anggi Noen is a 20-minute fiction about Ayumi, a morose telephone operator who suddenly gets fired.

‘Land’ (2013) directed by Masanobu Hiraoka is a 4-minute experimental animation on abstract and metamorphoses.

‘Pieces of the Future’ (2016) directed by Seiki Watanabe is a 15-minute drama about an apprentice carpenter on his first real job who begins to wonder about the future owner of the house he is building a shed for.

‘A Warm Spell’ (2014) directed by Toshimichi Saito is a 25-minute fiction that tells the story of a windy winter day in Japanese countryside where people gather to attend a funeral and recover the sense of connection between brothers, strangers, the bereaved and deceased.

To be started at 15:30, the program is slated for about two hours.
